Cathy MacRae is a multi-talented entrepreneur with a passion for teaching and wedding planning. With over 15 years of experience as a public school teacher, Cathy made a bold move and transitioned to the wedding planning industry in 2008, starting her own business, Creative Weddings Planning & Design. Through hard work and determination, Cathy quickly grew her business, specializing in weddings in Calgary, Canada, and the nearby Canadian Rocky Mountain communities of Banff, Canmore, and Lake Louise, attracting clients from around the world. Immersed in the world of marketing, this is where she developed her love of social media.

Recently, Cathy's passion for teaching resurfaced. As Savvy Social Slayers, she uses her vast knowledge and experience to help creative professionals develop effective brand and marketing techniques, share their message, while at the same time working to reduce the overwhelm of social media. She shows wedding professionals, small business owners and entrepreneurs how to put productive habits and boundaries in place so social media does not take over and consume their lives. She has been featured at local workshops and international conferences as a speaker, sharing insights on social media tips, digital marketing strategies, branding, and pairing social media with self-care.

Cathy's dedication to the wedding planning industry extends beyond her business as she serves as the Vice President of Communications for the Association of Bridal Consultants (as well as their social media manager). She also serves as the Director of Operations for the Alberta International Band Festival and works with the Calgary Performing Arts Festival, while also still managing their social media accounts.

She earned her Master Wedding Planner™ designation from The Association of Bridal Consultants in November, 2022, making her Canada's only Master Wedding Planner™.

When Cathy is not teaching or planning weddings, she enjoys travelling the world (tropical climates are her favorite), reading books, and indulging in good food and wine with friends and family. She is a self-proclaimed dog person, and is partial to Bichon Shih Tzu and Yorkie breeds.
